COMPENSTATION FOR DIFFUSE PLEURAL THICKENING

Our client was exposed to asbestos whilst working for Smiths Docks Limited during the 1960’s.  He worked alongside laggers and was present when the laggers mixed the lagging causing substantial amounts of dust.   The dust was particularly bad in boiler rooms.  As a result of the exposure to asbestos our client was diagnosed with diffuse pleural thickening that caused significant breathing problems.  He had moved to Spain so it was necessary to have his medical records translated.   The claim was settled on a provisional damages basis which enables our client to come back for additional damages should he be unfortunate enough to develop a more serious asbestos related condition, such as mesothelioma or asbestos related lung cancer.
